When my nephew Jas was a new born he would sleep in my room in his little bassinet. He would wake up every 2 hours for a feeding and diaper change. And I would oblige. As he got bigger there were nights where he simply would not sleep and I would stay up with him. At that time I was working full time and was a full time grad student. But no matter how tired I was, he had total access to my full attention. It’s interesting thinking back on that time because I cannot recall ever being too tired. I just did it. I had an energy like never before. I don’t remember being sleepy at work or school or when I was with him.
NOW GOD! He NEVER sleeps and is NEVER tired. He gives us complete access to himself whenever and wherever. He is our Dad. Only a child could have the access and audacity to go wake up her dad at 4 am because she needs something, because she is scared, or simply because she wants to be close to him. We have that access to our dad through Christ Jesus.
It’s funny that I had Jas in his element; his bassinet in MY room. I had him with me because at any moment I could provide for him and take care of him. Well, it’s similar to how God places newbie Christians infants in the faith with all their baggage and life details in close proximity to him. So that they know, learn and become accustom to the fact that no matter what time it is, what the situation may be, life explosions, whining, tiredness, hunger, comfort needed (all natural and spiritual); he is there to care for them. God is our good good father. Always near to care, guide, discipline and love all of his children.
Remember and never doubt YOU have that kind of access to God anytime and anyplace.
Romans 8: 38-39
And I am convinced that nothing can ever separate us from God’s love. Neither death nor life, neither angels nor demons, neither our fears for today nor our worries about tomorrow—not even the powers of hell can separate us from God’s love. 39 No power in the sky above or in the earth below—indeed, nothing in all creation will ever be able to separate us from the love of God that is revealed in Christ Jesus our Lord.
