Hey Family! A while back I had this severe attack on the issue of self esteem. It was so heavy on me but I’ve learned to bring everything before God. To lay down every burden at his feet and that is just what I did. I want to share with you all a bit of what I learned about Self Worth.
For You formed my innermost parts;
You knit me [together] in my mother’s womb.
I will give thanks and praise to You, for I am fearfully and wonderfully made;
Wonderful are Your works,
And my soul knows it very well.
“Because you are precious in My sight,
You are honored and I love you,
I will give other men in return for you and other peoples in exchange for your life.”
Indeed the very hairs of your head are all numbered. Do not be afraid; you are far more valuable than many sparrows.
God cares about the details of your life. So much so, that he has counted and knows the numbers of hairs on your head. You don’t even know the number of hairs on your head. Probably not of importance to you.
For we are His workmanship [His own master work, a work of art], created in Christ Jesus [reborn from above—spiritually transformed, renewed, ready to be used] for good works, which God prepared [for us] beforehand [taking paths which He set], so that we would walk in them [living the good life which He prearranged and made ready for us].
We are…YOU ARE God’s masterpiece! He was purposeful and fully intentional in creating you – all of us. Every detail in us, on us and about us is specifically designed. Nothing is by “happenstance”. He knows why you have a large mark on your face or why you talk slower/faster than others. He has a purpose for it all. Have we ever stopped to ask what the purpose is and how to go about using these special features he has given us?
Society wants everyone to be exactly alike. But God made us unique. It is part of his sustaining power at work in us. How far would we be if everyone was exactly alike? Who would be bold enough to make electricity? Or to build houses/buildings? Or learn about the human anatomy to be able to heal and perform surgery? Who would learn what is good for us to eat and/or not eat? Who would know how to write, cultivate land, herd animals etc?
Our self esteem or self worth does not originate from man. What sense does it make to then look to man to sustain it? Our self esteem/self worth can only come from God who though of us, created us and gives us purpose. We we lose sight of God, we lose sight of who we are.
Beauty, Intelligence, “Swag” are outflows of what is within us. Proverbs 4:23 “Watch over your heart with all diligence, For from it flow the springs of life.” Self worth/esteem begins with what is rooted in your heart. If you are founded in Christ and the Word of God is alive and active in your life, when someone comes and offers something contrary to who/what God says you are or even treats you less than how God requires you can see it and reject it.
God equips us for what he has called us to accomplish. Some are talented musicians (purposed to give him praise and lift others peoples spirit) , artist (mirroring the creativity of God) , writers (capturing history or even future events for future generations) , doctors (using the hands and understanding to aide others), teachers, encouragers, cooks and organizers etc. What he calls one person to do may be completely different from you and that is a marvelous thing! You are not crazy or a nerd. You are more than your body shape and facial features. You are more than you hair. So much more than an economic class.
Listen, [insert your name here] God spoke everything into existence. He had a specific purpose in mind and to fulfill it he called you… YES, YOU! into existence to fulfill it. He not only called you for it but he equipped you for it. And in the (likely) scenario that you mess things up, he is always with you to give you more- to fill you up again and restore you. He guides you in completing your purpose. And as icing on the cake- he wants you to have life and life abundantly filled with joy, peace, love and goodness etc. All of which are flowing in abundance in him. So what you don’t look like the most popular woman. So what you don’t have all the fancy clothes or things. Your worth is in the one who created you and called you. It is in the one who sustains you. All that matters, is that you matter to God.
Look at the birds of the air, for they neither sow nor reap nor gather into barns; yet your heavenly Father feeds them. Are you not of more value than they?
You Are Valuable and Beautiful!
Love Ya to Peace,
