Heart Check

Hey All!

I pray everyone is doing well. I wanted to check in with you guys with something that may help you on your personal journey with Christ. Everyday (during the day) I do what is known as a Heart Check. No, lol I don’t literally mean check your heart to see if it’s working. I mean spiritually. I check myself to make sure that I am doing my best to remain in right standing with God. For example, I do not want to gossip. So during the day, I ask myself did you speak about anyone negatively with others? Did you agree with others about anyone in a negative light? Etc.  If I answer yes, to any of these then I repent to God and do my best to keep away from doing such things.

Now if we judged ourselves properly, we would not come under judgment.

1 Corinthians 11:31

I realized that this journey with Christ doesn’t just happen. We have to be intentional about it. Its living according to God’s will as outlined in his Word to fulfill his purpose in our lives. Now, I don’t know about ya’ll but I’d rather judge myself and have a chance to change things and get back on track than to stand before God on judgement day and have him give the final word that sends me to hell. Nah, I’m not bout that life. Nope, not I.

I also do a deeper heartcheck more so before bed. This deeper check help me to further investigate my thoughts, motives and desires. Are they all aligned with the Word of God? Did I exhibit the fruits of God’s spirit today? ( Was I patience, kind, loving, joyful, good, faithful, gentle and self controlled) If not, again I repent and ask God to help me in those areas and intentionally focus on doing better in that area(s).

Don’t get me wrong, I know that God doesn’t require perfection. (We can’t be perfect without him) However, he is looking for a willing heart. A heart honestly seeking him. After that he’s got you… 110%. If you need proof, well even before we even tried to get right with God he made the first move.

But God showed his great love for us by sending Christ to die for us while we were still sinners.- Romans 5:8

And one last thing, the coolest part really. As you grow in spirit with God and the holy spirit dwells in you and you can clearly know his voice from everyone else’s. You’ll start to notice that he checks you even before you get into certain situations. Even before you start to drag out and accept certain thoughts, the Holy Spirit says- “Hol’up, that’s not of God. Get outta here or think of things that are truth, pure, righteous etc.” This part is the coolest to me!

Anywho, I hope this random post helps someone out there!

Love ya to Peace,
