The War

Hey ya’ll I was thinking the other day about how we can be our worst enemy at times.Every day that we awake we are at War. Many people do not realize it. Especially those in “civilized” countries. However, I am not talking about wars with guns, tanks, planes etc. I’m talking about the War between good and evil. I’m  talking about the good and evil within ourselves. Our heart and mind against our spirit.

The Fall happened when Man turned against God in his heart and mind. Wanting to be “just like God” even though we already were. (Genesis 2&3) Our spirit however, has always been for God in a sense. When Man was formed God breathed into his nostril or in some translations poured out his spirit into man. It is this spirit that connects us, communicates back and forth between the heavenly realms and this physical one. It is the spirit that returns to the Father to be judged on our Judgement day. Please note: that if you have completely given into the evil in your heart that the spirit of God cannot dwell within you and you are functioning by a spirit that is not of God.

The spirit is willing but the flesh is weak. (Matt 26:41) even in Romans 7: 18-19 Paul talks about wanting to do what is right but seeming to do what is wrong. Our spirit can have communication directly from God about something or someone but our hearts and mind block that communication. For example, I spoke about this a while back. When I was with my ex and I felt the holy spirit nudging me not to go over to his house, but my heart blocked it because i “loved” him and my mind blocked it because I didn’t want him to “get mad at me” or break up with me because I didn’t want to “spend time” with him. -___-

We can avoid so many heartaches, headaches, damage and attacks if we only listen to the holy spirit of God within us.

However, what I have learned is that the spirit of God grows stronger within us when we nurture it. It gains strength by us reading the Word of God, praying, fasting, and fellowship with like believers. As we nurture the spirit of God within us the desires of the heart and mind begin to conform to the will of the spirit. That’s evident in the ending to Paul’s dilemma in Romans 7, verses 24 and 25

24What a wretched man I am! Who will rescue me from this body that is subject to death? 25Thanks be to God, who delivers me through Jesus Christ our Lord!

It is not by our own strength that we are able to listen and obey the spirit of God. It is simply by the strength of Christ Jesus. We must 1. know that we are at War- DAILY ( Moment by moment really) 2. We must decide to follow the spirit of God  in every circumstance. The heart and mind are like children that need to be parented ( by the Spirit of God).

This is why we are warned to put on the whole armor of God. (Ephesians 6:10-18) to withstand the schemes of the enemy. Its very apparent that the enemy has gotten the majority of the world to forget they are at War with him. We have Wars over earthly things such as money, oil, leaderships etc. I pray that Man would wake up and realize what’s really going on. I hope that in reading this all or even a few people start to realize, we humans are as fickle as a flower. Here today and gone tomorrow in the physical. But our spirits will reap the reward or pay the cost. Something to think about indeed!
