Film Review: War Room

The Christian war was won centuries ago. By one man…Jesus Christ. But today, we Christians are still dealing with a few lingering battles. They are the rebels ( evil spirits) that refuse to accept the loss even though they know they have lost and know what awaits them. However, many of us are falling for the traps of the enemy in these battles. We have forgotten that God has won the war for us. We already have the victory. Instead we negate the original battle plan given to us and forge ahead with failing strategies. It’s time we as Christians stop this foolishness of playing the enemy’s games. It’s time we turn back to the battle plan designed by our great general himself- PRAYER!

War Room is a riveting and spirit awakening film that is sure to leave you ready for battle. In a day and age where our spiritual warriors have forgotten the strategy delegated to us, this film will absolutely remind you of who you are and what you are here to accomplish.

An interesting note about this film for me is the title itself the “War Room”. There are many gems in the Word of God and Matthew 6:6 is one of them.

But when you pray, go into your room, close the door and pray to your Father, who is unseen. Then your Father, who sees what is done in secret, will reward you.

So many people feel the need to shout so loudly when praying. They scream and show out. Maybe they feel that will grab Gods attention?? IDK. But as I reflect on the Word of God, each and every time God spoke to his servant- it was in a hidden place. Abraham, Moses, Saul, David and even Jesus Christ! All were in a place away from others and dealing with just God when they were instructed and led. So this begs the question- if we are struggling to hear God, where are we stationed to seek him?

Back to the film, I have said this to about everyone I’ve come across since seeing the film that “YOU HAVE TO GO SEE THIS FILM!!” It is rare that a picture captures even the essence of God but this film has it all. I’ve never experienced a movie that gave me goosebumps and stirred up my spirit. A movie that convicted me and made me examine my relationship with God. I truly believe that God is sending a War Cry out to all his Warriors to assemble into their positions (their respected War Rooms) and engage in prayer for the battles ahead. This film could not have come at a more appropriate time. We as a people, Christians, are surrounded by evil minds and hearts. We are being attacked at work, school, our families, and our marriages. To make matters worse, we aren’t even fighting these spirits and principalities with the Word which is the only weapon they can’t win against. We actually play into their tricks and schemes and whine to be rescued. The Word says in 2 Timothy 1:7

For God hath not given us the spirit of fear; but of power, and of love, and of a sound mind.

We as Christians, have the power to speak to the things that plague us and in Jesus name they should fall. We should not have to play games and tricks to live in peace. We are of sound mind through Christ. We have love for all through Christ, Jesus but we have no fear to worship, proclaim and serve him.

I love that the cast members aren’t the usual super star celebrities. Often times, films can get clouded by the names of the actors. The gem of this film has got to be Mrs. Clara (played by Karen Abercrombie) !!! Yasssss! God, I love me some Mrs. Clara!. I almost shot up from my seat many a times during the movie especially as she prayed for God to call his warriors to battle. Truthfully, most Christians today can find themselves in the characters of Elizabeth (played by Pricilla C. Shirer) and Tony (played by T.C. Stallings)  Jordan. We are satisfied with being regular Christians that do the bare minimum in the faith. Oh but after seeing this film, there is no way you can go back to your life as a Christian on paper and online only. You will definitely feel the conviction to stand as a soldier in Gods army.

Please, do yourself a favor and go see this film; alone, with your significant other, friends,and/or church. For me this film gets a 5 out of 5 stars!!
